IberSilicon

Silicon carbide crystals, grown in Europe.

An independent European grower of SiC boules and wafers for power electronics.

What We Do

IberSilicon is building an independent European grower of silicon carbide (SiC) crystals. We grow boules for the open market and process them in-house into polished wafers, using laser splitting.

Our pilot line has ten PVT furnaces for 8-inch (200 mm) n-type 4H-SiC. The roadmap leads to 12-inch.

Why It Matters

SiC is the base material for power chips in electric vehicles, fast chargers, solar inverters, grid equipment and data centres. European chipmakers are world-class, but most of the substrate beneath their chips comes from outside Europe, and the European growers that do exist mainly supply their own fabs. IberSilicon offers an independent European source with known origin and secure supply.

Our Approach

Pilot First

We first prove reproducible 8-inch quality, a competitive cost per wafer and a trained European team. Training starts together with the furnaces.

Measured, Not Claimed

We measure the COâ‚‚ footprint and water use of every wafer and document them traceably, powered by renewable energy.

Built With Partners

We build on German furnace technology, fab engineering and academic crystal-growth expertise. We scale up together with our customers.
